Anti-Virus

Which Anti-Virus program? And do I need more than one?

In January 2015, OPSWAT published statistics on the usage of Windows Anti-Virus programs throughout the world.

It is clear that business owners have a difficult challenge when choosing an Anti-Virus program from the wide range of products available. Some even choose two or three programs in a misguided attempt to ensure 100% protection. This is never a good idea!

BUT why are Anti-Virus programs necessary? Firstly, we should realise that all these programs exist to counter Windows viruses. Second, we should realise that viruses are targeted at specific versions of operating systems, e.g. a Windows XP virus will have no effect on a MAC operating system. Thirdly, we should know that the vast majority of viruses target Windows systems. A few target MAC systems and a negligible number target Linux systems. This means that using MAC, or better still using Linux, greatly lessens or entirely removes the problem of viruses.

We can advise and assist customers with Windows Anti-virus issues but, why not switch to Linux Fedora and forget about viruses forever?
