The days when a guest selected a hotel based on its price, photo quality and listed features are past.
No matter how good your product or service is, and how many times you tell people about it, if your competitor has better independent guest reviews, they will get the bookings.
You can drastically drop your price, but that just makes a hotel look cheap and desperate, and if you do get booked, those bookings will probably come from unappreciative guests.
You can pay to be listed in online and printed guidebooks, e.g. Johansens and MrandMrsSmith, but these are expensive, pose difficulties in being accepted and may not attract business anyway.
